George Papanikolaou

George Papanikolaou was born on August 15, 1977 and grew up in a large family - with his parents Pavlos and Stamatias and his three brothers. He is married to lawyer Eva Dogiakou and they have two daughters and a son. After completing his undergraduate studies he passed the exams and was accepted in the postgraduate program of Public Law of Athens Law, successfully completing his studies two years later. Has watched also a study program in public administration at Harvard University. In the summer of 2004, at the age of 27, he was elected to the presidency by a large majority of ONED, a position in which he was re-elected in 2007. He completed his military service serving in the Navy from 2006-2007. In June 2009 he was elected to the European Parliament as a member of the European Parliament People's Party (EPP). As an MEP he was a member of parliament Committees on Culture and Education (CULT) and Civil Liberties, Justice and Of Internal Affairs "(LIBE), in which in 2013 he was elected coordinator for the team of the EPP. He was also Vice-Chair of the EU-Chile Interparliamentary Commission and Member of the Interparliamentary Committee on Europe-Latin America Relations (EUROLAT). In May 2014, he was elected leader of the municipal group "Our Glyfada" Mayor of Glyfada, collecting in the second round a percentage of 62.93%. From the 1st September 2014 is the Mayor of Glyfada. In May 2019, he was re-elected Mayor of Glyfada, as head of the municipal "Our Glyfada" faction, gathering 79.01% in the first round.
